Dirty Billy: Other Garages Were Full, So They Opened Their Own
Last Sunday in Brooklyn, I had the opportunity to bop around town with some amazing people. One of the places that we stopped at was Adam's Dirty Billy. Dirty Billy is a community motorcycle garage and shop that also builds, sells custom motorcycles and offer van services.
The build that started it all... This Yamaha DT400 Enduro was the first build that Adam did in the kitchen of his apartment--this bike is "Dirty Billy."
After this build, Adam was looking for garage space in the city to continue working and building other bikes. However, there was a waiting list for most of the community garages local to him. His then girlfriend now wife told him that he should just start his own garage. And with the support and business planning with his wife, Dirty Billy Garage was opened in a year and half from concept to opening (impressive for NYC).
What is admirable is that they did it their self without equity partners--Adam and his wife created their OWN opportunity when they saw there was a demand for it.
Check out some of Dirty Billy's the current builds and consignment bikes:
This little black custom built 1971 Honda CL350 is for sale.
This Triumph is a 1968 T120 Bobber with matching frame and engine. It is fully rebuilt with new everything; Megacycle Hot Cams, new premier Amal carbs, Boyer ignition built by their own garage member, Nick Zagoreos.
For more information on these bikes, the garage and other services, you can contact Adam at Adam@dirtybilly.com .
